Alan, approximately half the human beings aborted are female. Abortion is the ultimate oppression of females – and males. If you know your facts, you know that sex selection abortion is overwhelmingly aimed at females – another atrocity that abortion perpetuates – against females. Also, abortion harms many women emotionally.

Regarding free speech, that is what this forum is all about. Do you have something specific that you want to comment on?
Cherry, pro-life arguments are not inherently anti-woman or anti-choice — the woman has many choices prior to the creation of the new human life. We must remember that at conception an embryo is genetically a human being with its own unique set of DNA.
Human beings have an inalienable right to life. Please remember that half the babies aborted are females. Their women’s rights need to be protected as well. Furthermore, abortion is not found in the constitution, but the right to life is. Human rights exist for all.
James, you are continuing a false claim. EVERY pro-life law acknowledges the primacy of the woman’s life over the fetus if her life is in danger….Also, the fundamental purpose of government is the protection of individual human rights. So, in providing equal protection to BOTH groups of humans – women and the unborn, the government is fulfilling its core mandate.
The oppression of blacks, indigenous Americans, women and other groups were all based on dehumanizing them and considering them “less than”. Those are all groups of genetic humans – as are the unborn. On what scientific basis do you deny the humanity of the unborn and their right to life and equal protection?
Michael, you are correct that personhood is at the heart of this issue. EVERY human being – regardless of gender, race, disability, or stage of development has the Right to Life. Please note the 14th Amendment: “nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law”. At conception when the sperm and egg unite, a new human being with its own unique set of DNA – separate from its mother or father – is created. DNA is the scientific identifier of organisms.
For an issue as important as the protection of human lives our laws must be based on objective scientific truth and logic.
Ken, we are not claiming superior protection for the unborn but rather equal protection based on the scientific, objective criterion of core identity. We again refer you to Steve Jacobs landmark study in 2019. The results showed that the vast majority of biologists – across various cultures – affirmed that each human life begins at conception. Jacobs wrote, “I found that 5,337 biologists (96%) affirmed that a human’s life begins at fertilization…” Here are some additional quotes from medical experts as to the identity of the beginning human being. Please see The Scientific Consensus on When a Human’s Life Begins.
Dr. Micheline Matthews-Roth, Harvard University Medical School: “It is incorrect to say that biological data cannot be decisive…. It is scientifically correct to say that an individual human life begins at conception…. Our laws, one function of which is to help preserve the lives of our people, should be based on accurate scientific data.”
Dr. Jerome LeJeune, professor of genetics at the University of Descartes in Paris, was the discoverer of the chromosome pattern of Down syndrome. Dr. LeJeune testified to the United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee, “after fertilization has taken place a new human being has come into being.” He stated that this “is no longer a matter of taste or opinion,” and “not a metaphysical contention, it is plain experimental evidence.” He added, “Each individual has a very neat beginning, at conception.”
Don, the motivation behind the decision to have intercourse does not in any way alter the responsibility that accompanies that freewill decision. Again, in every area of life with choice comes responsibility.
You did not respond to our query regarding the responsibility of the man. Should child support during pregnancy be considered? Please read this recent peer-reviewed study by David C. Reardon and Katherine A. Rafferty. The Effects of Abortion Decision Rightness and Decision Type on Women’s Satisfaction and Mental Health.
One of their findings was that, “Sixty percent reported they would have preferred to give birth if they had received more support from others or had more financial security.”…
Ken, have you ever noticed that most pro-life pregnancy centers and general pro-life organizations are led by women? It is because many of those women have experienced the trauma of abortion.
Please read Abortion and subsequent mental health: Review of the literature by Carlo V. Bellieni MD,Giuseppe Buonocore MD, PhD in the journal, Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences. Also, studies have pointed to the coercion that many women feel in making their “choice”.
Have you ever considered that irresponsible men could well be the main beneficiaries of abortion?
Austin, you claim to be supporting women but in fact you are doing the opposite. We suggest you read, “Women Who Suffered Emotionally from Abortion: A Qualitative Synthesis of Their Experiences”. This article is published in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons Volume 22 Number 4 Winter 2017. This was a large nation-wide study of 987 respondents who had sought post-abortive care.
Here are some of the astounding facts which speak to the coercion and emotional pain often involved in abortion decisions: “58.3% of the women reported aborting to make others happy, 73.8% disagreed that their decision to abort was entirely free from even subtle pressure from others to abort, 28.4% aborted out of fear of losing their partner if they did not abort…”.
Women and unborn children deserve better than abortion. They deserve support.
