This month, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission reported that abortions in Texas have dropped by almost half since the Heartbeat Law was passed. However, as this CNN article reports, many Texas women are seeking abortions in neighboring states. We must continue attitude change to recognize the personhood of the unborn and push for federal protection.
By being present outside abortion facilities, we can stem this tide. More than ever, pregnant women are looking for alternatives. We must go to the sidewalk where hurting people are and direct them to real help through area pregnancy care centers.
Guest speaker, Lisa, is a dedicated LifeFirst volunteer and the Spring,TX program director for Sidewalk Advocates for Life. She faithfully ministers outside area abortion facilities with unrivaled boldness and compassion and teaches others to do the same!
Lisa is motivated by her personal experience with abortion and by Revelations 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” While her main objective is to reach expectant mothers, she also takes the opportunity to talk to husbands and boyfriends, facility escorts, uber drivers, and even groundskeepers!
Not only has Lisa helped moms choose Life, but she also helped Texas choose Life! Last year, Lisa testified before the Texas Legislature on behalf of the Heartbeat Bill and other pro-life legislation. She even received a personal invitation from Governor Abbott’s office to be present when the bill was signed into law!
The Heartbeat Law has created a unique opportunity for the pro-life community in Texas. Let’s be there to demonstrate that we care for both mom and baby with help for their present crisis as well as hope for their future success. As we approach the spring 40 Days for Life campaign, Lisa’s personal testimony, stories from the sidewalk, and love for the unborn and their mothers will inspire you. Her enthusiasm is infectious…come catch the passion!
