Though the issue of abortion is paramount, the sanctity of a life must be protected along its entire continuum, from conception to natural death. Through an accident or medical emergency, any one of us could become a victim of the current anti-life climate.
In these cases, pressure from medical professionals and even denial of care can force family members to discontinue treatment of their loved ones, even when the outcome remains uncertain.
In 1985, Jennifer Hamann faced this dire situation, not as a caregiver, but as a patient. The then 25-year-old mother of two experienced two grand mal seizures that left her in a coma, diagnosed with severe and irreversible brain damage. Her husband fought for her life, unaware that she was totally cognizant, but unable to move, speak, or otherwise communicate.
None of us are immune from such an experience, but we can be armed with the valuable insight and information Jennifer will share. We are excited for you to join us at the first monthly meeting of LifeFirst!
