2026 Dinner for Life

2026 Dinner for Life

LifeFirst is honored to welcome Jim McIngvale – widely known as “Mattress Mack” – as the keynote speaker for our upcoming Dinner for Life. Jim is more than a successful businessman; he is an example of faith, generosity, and commitment to the dignity of every life–values that align deeply with the mission of LifeFirst.

Jim was born in Mississippi and raised in Dallas from the age of five. He excelled as a high school athlete and went on to play college football at both the University of Texas and the University of North Texas.

In 1981, Jim and his wife, Linda, moved to Houston with just $5,000 and a dream to build a furniture empire. McIngvale’s dream had a humble beginning – selling his furniture out of a tent along Interstate 45 north of Loop 610. Jim’s commitment to hard work and focus on individual customer service has made Gallery Furniture a Houston institution and a must-visit shopping destination, now serving the community through two locations.

Jim’s impact extends far beyond business success. He is a visionary leader whose generosity has transformed lives. Support from the McIngvale family helped launch the first Mobile Stroke Unit in the United States. He has provided generous support to the Texas Heart Institute, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He is also a steadfast supporter of pro-life and foster care initiatives, using his resources and platform to advocate for the most vulnerable.

When Hurricane Harvey hit Houston in August of 2017, McIngvale dispatched his fleet of delivery trucks in a lifesaving effort to rescue desperate people from the flood waters. For weeks, hundreds camped out in the Gallery Furniture showrooms and made themselves at home on the beds, sofas, and recliners.

When asked what compelled him to act, Jim explained in an interview with Texas Highways, “It was the way I was brought up. You can’t watch people suffering and not do anything about it.”

Jim McIngvale’s authenticity, energy, and unwavering conviction make him a powerful and compelling speaker. His example encourages us to remain steadfast and united in defending the dignity of every human life.

We invite you to join us for the LifeFirst Dinner for Life and hear firsthand from a man whose faith in action has changed countless lives.
