Prenatal care is available through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Medicaid for Pregnant Women, and many state programs. Maternal leave programs are increasing both in availability and length of time. Many companies are offering “parental” leave so that the man also can share in child-caring duties. Pre-existing conditions are increasingly covered although more work needs to be done in this area. Regarding the Safety Net for Single mothers, there definitely needs to be more support for women and children. However, it is there and it is growing. Your argument was based on 1) they are “unwanted” humans who will have difficult lives and 2) allowing the unborn their Right to Life somehow stops women from exercising autonomy over their bodies.
Firstly, NO ONE has the moral right to end another innocent human being’s life. The Right to Life is a constitutional right. What gives you or a pregnant woman the right to determine that another human being’s life is not worth living? Are you actually advocating that you are the arbiter of whether a person’s environment is “good enough” or that you can forecast how their life will turn out?
Regarding bodily autonomy for women, scientifically the fetus’s body is NOT part of the woman’s body. The unborn child has a separate, unique DNA.
